When you go to sleep at night, do you know that people in your dreams live in faraway places and want to tell you something of great importance? Well, it happened to me last night. I went to sleep hoping that I wouldn’t be visited by strangers, but in the middle of the night an old man with a wrinkled face and a long grey beard whispered in my ear:

Belandria, Wake up. I want to tell you about the precious emerald of the Goshbeak Tribe lost in our land thousands of years ago. Come, fly with me to Mother Spider’s palace, and she will give you a precious emerald worth a million dollars.

Annoyed that this old man was in my dream suggesting I fly with him to Mother Spider, I felt a bee buzzing around my right ear. I jumped out of bed and saw flashed on the wall this message the old man had sent:

Belandria, walk through this wall and on the other side you will find a spider’s web as large as the sun and as orange as the moon. Enter this web and the grey spider will lead you to the land of the Goshbeak’s where a bird dressed in a blue satin robe and a golden crown will lead you to Mother Spider. Only She can tell you how to find the precious emerald of the Goshbeak Tribe.

Well, I woke up feeling I had gone crazy wondering how this old man with a long grey bird dared to get in my dream. I fell back into my bed to take stock of what I had just experienced, but before I fell asleep, I opened my eyes to make sure the message on the wall had disappeared. It was gone and so was the buzzing, but I must confess that I would have liked finding a precious emerald worth a million dollars.

I woke up early in the morning as the sun was just coming up over the horizon. Bad dreams have followed me since I was a child, so I knew what I was in for if I stayed in bed one minute longer.
